Vector Images

A vector image is made up of lines and points joined together to make a picture. The computer does this by using mathematical equations, this allows you to re-size your image without changing the way it looks.
Here is an example of my work that is a vector image:

Raster Images

Raster images are made of pixels and can only be scaled down not up. Photos are raster images because the more you zoom in on them the more unclear the image becomes and you start to see all the pixels the picture is made up of.

The Pixel

Pixel is created from the words picture element. The pixel can come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, the size of the pixel depends on the resolution of your screen or video you are watching. Here is an example of some simple pixel art.

Here is an example of  a pixel art animation I have done myself:

Colour Depth

Colour depth is the amount of different colours that are used in a picture. The higher the amount of bits, the more colours are in the picture, making the picture look HD.

Colour Models

RGB - RGB stands for red, green, blue. RBG is used when using light and its primary purpose is to display images on electronic devices.

CMYK - CMYK stands for cyan, magenta, yellow, black. K is used for black because B is already used to describe blue. CMYK is used when using ink and printers.

Resolution

Resolution is the amount of pixels on a screen. The higher the resolution of your image the better your image will be.

Anti-Aliasing

Anti-aliasing is a technique used to get rid of the blocky or jagged look to a image when ou put a high resolution image on a low resolution screen.
